I took a jab at Obama when I was writing yesterday about the unemployment numbers and how to create a measurement which would be more helpful, but it had nothing to do with the U-3 number I was writing about. I just wanted anyone who might read the article (and it turns out plenty of leftists actually can't read...who knew?) to realize that while Obama does suck as president that the useless unemployment statistics our government compiles really have nothing to do with Obama at all. Still, leftists predictably launch into "Defend Obama" mode. I had no idea that at the very moment I was typing that article that our president would be giving a speech at the National Prayer Breakfast of such incredibly disgusting proportions as to make his previous venalities seem philanthropic by comparison.
First a disclaimer...I am an atheist. I don't believe in God. I don't pray. I am religion "friendly" but not religious.
I have absolutely no doubts about the great many vile things done in the name of religion or God or Christ, by people who use those things for evil purposes. I could make similar arguments the president made in his speech about leftists and their use of government against people as well. And so when the president wants to recount past Christian "sins" I am not entirely unsympathetic. But to use that speech to compare ancestral Christians with modern Islamists in order to I suppose cause introspection of modern Christians and tolerance of modern Islamists is venal beyond belief.
Not only does Mr. Obama get the history wrong as Christians fought the Crusades to repel invading and occupying Muslim armies, and Christians fought the Civil War to end the scourge of slavery, but he couldn't, even in that speech, call these Islamists what they are. He had no compunction though in saying that Christians had done great violence in the name of Christ. Perhaps most disgusting about this most disgusting president's speech is something he never even hinted at: Christians, regardless of what you think about them in historical terms (and I think mostly favorable of them), reformed themselves. They even call that period of Christian history The Reformation. A great evangelical American leader even took the name of one of the reformers, Martin Luther.
Why is that so awful? Because Mr. Obama, a man who cannot even call the enemy by the name it chooses (imagine if people did that to Mr. Obama, or leftists in general, the whimpering cacophony that would result), ignores the reality that Christians changed and sought to distance themselves from any unsavory past they had by undertaking a new path, while at the same time can't even admit that Islamists who are raping kids, killing kids, raping women, killing women, beheading innocents, starving innocents, all in the name of Allah, are Muslims seeking a new path for Islam. It just so happens to be an utterly disgusting path.
Mr. Obama claims the USA has a national interest in defeating the JV Squad doing all this evil, and yet he reserves his most descriptive language for Christians who are doing none of what he claims to oppose. ISIS poses no existential threat to America today. They are evil and the world would be a better place if they were all killed. Mr. Obama's historical and ethical confusion and delusion, and the fact that American voters elected this awful person to be our leader, twice, is what poses an existential threat to America.
We have a president who, with more power and protection than anyone on earth has ever possessed, is unable to identify an enemy he claims to be a serious national threat, and is unwilling to pursue political and military strategies (his people can't even identify the strategy he has) to deal with that threat.
If Mr. Obama were merely incompetent I suppose we could excuse him for being so bad if for no other reason he has no life experience which would lead one to be competent in that job. But I think it's worse. I think we have, unbelievably, twice now elected our first anti-American president of America. Defend Mr. Obama, if you want to, leftists.
